The North Carolina American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 1967 to honor those who have used their talents and knowledge, their time and money, and their hard work to make American Legion Baseball a success in North Carolina.

The Baseball Hall of Fame Induction plaque presentation during the Banquet held at Morehead City. Due to the health of MR V. J. "Puck" O'Neal. It was felt he would not be able to travel to Salisbury for the awards, so Department Jeff Joyner made the presentation at the Banquet.

North Carolina's 2002 Area Players of the year were recognized at the Hall of Fame banquet. The award winners are Matt Keever, Area 4; Vince Merryman, Area 2; Calvin Hayes, Area 3 and R.T. Pejera, Area 1.
Matt Sigmon, E. Catawba Post 509 , was the winner of the North Carolina American Legion Baseball College Scholarship award and the national Region 2 scholarship award.
Randy Mazey, head baseball coach of the East Carolina University Pirates, served as the main speaker at the banquet.
